My Story, My Why

My Story

Matching children to their perfect tutor. Why?

What’s important about that? When I first started private tuition one thing stood out to me. It was so easy to walk into a child’s home, build up a close relationship with them and support them on their educational journey without having any checks or qualifications. I instantly knew that I wanted to create a place where parents could come to find a tutor matched perfectly to their child whilst being safe in the knowledge that their child would be learning alongside a professional teacher with the appropriate qualifications, DBS checks and insurance.

No schemes. Just personal, bespoke, tailored teaching to suit each child’s learning needs. Why?

What’s important about that? For me, the sweet spot in teaching is in the relationship between the teacher and the child. It’s when the teacher really knows the child, their interests and their learning style that great teaching and learning can take place.

Developing self-esteem, confidence and a love of learning through a growth mindset? Why?

What’s important about that? Teaching and learning is an art which takes time and practise to perfect. Learning a new skill or acquiring new knowledge takes perseverance and determination. These skills can be honed through the encouragement of a growth mindset – the belief that brains and talent is just the starting point and that intelligence can be developed. This is important, but before this, the most crucial key to unlocking a child’s potential is their own self-belief, self-esteem and self- confidence. We are passionate about patient, gentle, kind and reassuring teaching to encourage self-confidence.

Creating an ethos of appreciation and valuing teacher autonomy. Why?

What’s important about that? From my career in teaching, I became incredibly passionate about the importance of teacher autonomy. It’s so important to me to completely trust in our teachers and their pedagogical skills – they are fully qualified and experienced, after all. Each teacher will have their own unique teaching style and it is really important to me to not only value that but to celebrate it too.
