Home Teaching advice

Although we are currently experiencing a pandemic, there is no academic emergency. Anxious or worried children can’t learn from stressed or exhausted parents - it’s impossible! Give yourself a break and ease into this slowly. Whatever you are managing to do with your children at home so far is enough. So make the most of the sunshine, have some fun and relaxation and I promise you that the learning will follow!

You’re doing a great job!

If you’d like someone to look over the work you’re doing or something you have been sent home from school, then please do feel free to send a message by clicking the button below. We will do our best to support you.

maths, English and well-being

For lots of ideas and free resources for teaching maths, English and well-being at home, have a look over at our ‘resources’ page by clicking ‘resources’ below.

During this time, don’t panic about replicating school at home but instead make use of the time to teach things in a way that can’t be done at school. Use project based, child-led learning to engage your child in a holistic, creative and fun activity involving maths and English too. For example, teach your child to cook their favourite meal whilst focusing on measurements and weight for maths and reading and writing instructions for English. Or create a fairy or dinosaur garden together whilst focusing on fractions and dividing for maths and reading and writing creative stories for English.

A great place to start is over at Twinkl - a fantastic website used by lots of teachers. Use the code UKTWINKLHELPS for free access.
