Top 5 Websites to Support Primary Learning

There are so many websites, apps and other educational resources available now that it can be quite a minefield when trying to navigate them. We’ve tried and tested many over the years and thought we’d put together a list of our top five favourites!

1.      Education Quizzes – this one is a website and it really is fantastic! It is a paid membership website but we think it’s definitely worth the money. It’s made up of lots of different, short, snappy quizzes for almost all primary and secondary school subjects including the 11+. It tracks your progress and keeps records of the scores achieved on each quiz to help show you where to focus any revision time. Subscription is £9.99 per month.

2.      Reading Eggs – this really is a fabulous app to support early reading in particular. It has lots of different and engaging games for each phonics sound and it tailors the activities to the child’s abilities. Again, this is a paid membership but it really is worth it. Subscription is £6.99 per month.

3.      Twinkl – another website that is incredibly comprehensive, especially for primary aged pupils and Early Years. This is a “go to” website for almost all lesson planning, resources and activities. Using the search bar you can find almost any activity you may need to support your child’s learning at home. Individual memberships started from £4.49 per month.

4.      Topmarks – interactive games on a website and this one is free for most of the games. These games are always a hit with the children and work on some really core knowledge and understanding such as times tables and phonics. A favourite times tables game with lots of our children is “hit the button”. Give it a try!

5.      Phonicsplay – another wonderful website to support phonics. It costs only £6 per year and has a wealth of resources which can be used to enrich phonics learning at home. Lots of schools will use phonicsplay games during phonics sessions and so your child may already be familiar with some of the games.
